Importing, scanning & annotating

Scanning sheet music to PDF, step by step

You need three things from a scan: straight edges, readable contrast, and pages in the right order. Here is the workflow that gets all three in one pass.

Set up once

Put the score on a plain surface with light from both sides to avoid a shadow down the gutter. Hold the phone parallel to the page rather than at an angle.

Capture in order

Shoot pages sequentially so the resulting PDF needs no reordering. StageMate crops and straightens each page as it imports.

Check the first and last page

Verify the extracted title and the final page. Those two checks catch nearly every import problem worth fixing.

Try it on your own scores

Import PDF scores, add annotations, build setlists and turn pages hands-free. StageMate is available for Apple devices and Android. Features, cloud services and Pro purchases differ by platform; check the current plan before buying.
