Hands-free page turning

Nod and head-shake page turning

Some players prefer head movement to blinking, especially wind players whose eyes are busy and singers who need to keep their gaze up. A nod and a head shake are large, unambiguous movements — easy for the tracker, easy for you to control.

Assign the movement you already make

Many musicians nod on a downbeat anyway. Mapping the turn to a shake instead keeps the musical nod free, which is the most common setup for conductors and ensemble leads.

Avoiding false turns

Set the movement threshold above your natural sway. If you move a lot while playing, combine a wider threshold with a required hold at the end of the movement.

Works with the instrument in the way

ARKit tracking needs your face, not your whole body, so a violin at the chin or a flute across the mouth does not block detection.
